The most recent rumour to hit the internet is that Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy might be directing an episode of long running cult TV series Doctor Who. This got us thinking about which other directors should get involved and helm an episode of the show! Here are a few people we think could make a great episode, regardless of whether they would or not…

James Cameron
When you think of great time travel films, you think Terminator, and who’s responsible for those films? James Cameron. The good ones at least. He’s made plenty of great sci-fi films, and plenty of fun films too, so if he could find a few months between filming Avatar 2, 3 and 4, this could be a great fit.

Neill Blomkamp
His reputation might be a bit tarnished after?Chappie,?but Neill Blomkamp is definitely an inventive genre director. Even though his films aren’t always universally loved, there are always some cool ideas in there, plus we might get to see Sharlto Copley as The Master…

Robert Zemeckis
After the commercial failure of?The Walk,?Zemeckis’s name clearly doesn’t have the same kind of pull it once did, but the man behind the?Back to the Future?trilogy seems like a natural fit with this kind of property.

Alex Garland
Garland has been a writer in the movie industry for years, but his directorial d?but?Ex Machina?showed everyone exactly what he was capable of when sitting in the directors chair. He’s got some great sci-fi credits to his name, and this could be another one.

Danny Boyle
Danny Boyle has some strange credits to his name. He’s done live theatre, and he did the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony, so it’s not out of the question that he?might direct a special episode of Doctor Who.
