Part of Marvel’s big announcement of future films was a confirmed Captain Marvel feature film. Captain Marvel is due out in 2018 with the character Carol Danvers being the first female marvel superhero to have a feature film. DC have their female lead film in the form of a Wonder Woman feature being led?by actress?Gal Gadot. However, the actress for Captain Marvel hasn’t been decided. Today, we will look into some of our recommended candidates.
Gina Carano
She is best known for her career in mix martial arts and being a Strikeforce champion. With Gina Carano on set, not only could her character do serious damage to the rest of the cast, but so could she. However, Gina isn’t known for her acting abilities as much as her fighting. As a side note, it would also be awesome to have the ex-girlfriend of Superman, Henry Cavill, playing a similar character in the Marvel universe.

For those that have seen ‘Edge of Tomorrow’; this choice is clear. Emily Blunt played a high ranking officer in the British army faced against time-travelling aliens. The question, in the case of Emily, is whether she will have time for the role and if she would be willing to commit to a 6 or higher film contract.

A performance from Charlize Theron as Captain Marvel would give us a highly invested one. Alice Eve played a similar high ranking officer role in the 2013 ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness’. She also looks identical to the character Carol Danvers. The only worry would be if she could go up against Robert Downey Jr in a battle of the comebacks.

Shaliene Woodley is one of the biggest rising stars right now. She is no stranger to franchises either. She has a multi-movie deal in the ‘Divergent’ series. However, would that deal conflict with the commitment required to join the ranks of Marvel? Also Shaliene Woodley my be considered to small built and too young to play the role. However, her age may be a benefit to Marvel executives as it would?allowa 10+ years to continue fighting for the Marvel cause.

Those following ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” may understand this choice better than others. Due to particular events involving the Kree that occurred in season 1 they may have already planned Captain Marvel’s new origin story. Chloe Bennet’s character Skye is also climbing the ranks at S.H.I.E.L.D. and could land herself in an officer position when S.H.I.E.L.D. grows more.

This choice is probably the fan favourite at the moment. Katee Sackhoff managed to build herself a fan following with her performances in the 2004 ‘Battlestar Galactica’ TV series. She has pretty much lived in space with her roles in ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and her role in 2013 ‘Riddick’.
